Q: When do I have to come to Municipal Court?

Q: I can’t make my court date, what do I do?
A: Request a continuance of your court date. File your request with the Delaware Municipal Clerk of Court.

Q: I received a traffic ticket. Now what happens?

  • We will not discuss your minor traffic violation on the phone with you. We will discuss your ticket with you at the designated hearing time.
  • We do not reduce tickets to no-point violations.
  • We are legally prohibited from reducing CDL tickets.

Q: Will points get assessed to my license?
A: Assessing points is the responsibility of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. The Court and the Prosecutor do not assess points on a license.

Q: There is an error on my BMV record. How do I fix that?
A: Contact the BMV.

Q: I received a subpoena. Do I have to come to Court?
A: Yes. A subpoena is a court order to appear. Always call the subpoena line at 740-203-1185 after 5 pm on the day before you are subpoenaed to see if your case is resolved or continued. In those cases, you would not need to appear.

Q: I would like to drop charges. What do I do?
A: Once law enforcement files charges, the State of Ohio prosecutes the charges. It is not up to you to drop charges. It is the State of Ohio’s decision once charges are filed. You can contact the law enforcement agency that investigated your case if you wish to make a different statement.
