The Riverfront District was first outlined as a key focus area and priority by the City of Delaware Comprehensive Plan, “Delaware Together”. The comprehensive plan identified the area for its infill and redevelopment potential. Similarly, the public ranked the district as a top priority. The district consists of multiple land uses including residential, commercial, and industrial with vacant land and buildings throughout. The Riverfront District has significant opportunity for community-driven redevelopment that improves the built environment, supports economic development and provides needed amenities within the area. There is a great opportunity to build off the continued success of the downtown into the near east side, east of the river.
